Commission

In short

Spot indices and energy carry no commission on any account. Futures are charged 7 US dollars per lot on Standard and Raw. Shares and funds always cost 0.015%.

Commission is a fee based on the size of a trade, not on whether it made money. It is separate from the spread, and it is charged when the trade opens and again when it closes unless stated as a round turn.

Futures are separate instruments from their spot equivalents and carry their own symbols in the platform. Swap Free covers spot instruments only.

Working out the share commission

Share and fund commission is a percentage of the position value rather than a flat amount per lot. A position worth 10,000 US dollars costs 0.015% of that, which is 1.50 US dollars, charged on the way in and again on the way out.

Why an account with commission can be cheaper

A Raw account charges commission on forex and metals but quotes a tighter spread. A Standard account quotes a wider spread and charges no commission on those instruments. Which works out cheaper depends on how much you trade. See Fees and trade costs for a comparison.
