You can customize many features in MetaTrader 5 (MT5) to create a trading environment that fits your preferences. Adjusting colors, layouts, and trading tools can make your charts easier to read and help you trade more efficiently. This guide explains how to personalize your MT5 settings on both mobile and desktop.
Changing Chart Colors
Customizing chart colors is one of the most common adjustments traders make. It improves readability and helps highlight price movements more clearly.
On the Mobile App
Open the Settings tab.
Scroll down and tap Charts.
At the bottom, tap Colors.
Choose colors for your background, grid, and candlesticks.
This helps create a chart style that’s comfortable for long trading sessions.
On the Desktop Program
Right-click anywhere on a chart.
Select Properties at the bottom of the menu.
In the new window, go to the Colors tab.
Choose a predefined color scheme or customize each color manually.
Click OK to apply your changes.
You can switch between light or dark themes depending on your workspace or preference.
One-Click Trading (Desktop Only)
One-click trading allows you to execute trades instantly without confirmation. This feature lets you enter or exit trades quickly, which is particularly beneficial during fast market movements.
IMPORTANT:
Because it skips the confirmation window, it’s easy to place trades by mistake. Beginners should enable this feature only when they are confident in their trading process.
To turn it on:
Click Tools in the top menu.
Select Options.
Go to the Trade tab.
Check the box labeled One Click Trading.
Read and accept the disclaimer before using it.
Templates and Profiles (Desktop Only)
MT5 lets you save your preferred layouts and chart styles so you don’t have to set them up each time you trade. There are two tools for this: Templates and Profiles.
| Feature | Template | Profile |
| What it saves | The design of a single chart (colors, indicators, drawings). | The entire workspace (multiple charts, sizes, and layout). |
| How to use it | Apply your saved chart design to new charts easily. | Switch between customized workspaces for different trading strategies. |
Using Templates
Templates save the appearance and settings of one specific chart.
To save a template:
Set up your chart with your preferred indicators, colors, and drawings.
Right-click on the chart.
Go to Templates → Save Template.
Enter a name and click Save.
To apply a template:
Open a new chart.
Right-click anywhere on it.
Go to Templates → select your saved template.
This helps you maintain consistent setups across instruments.
Using Profiles
Profiles save the full layout of your MT5 workspace, including multiple charts and their positions.
To save a profile:
Arrange your charts and windows exactly how you like.
Click File → Profiles → Save As.
Enter a name for your profile.
To switch between profiles:
Click File → Profiles.
Select the profile you want to open.
Profiles are especially useful if you trade across different markets or use multiple strategies.
